“It doesn’t matter to me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dream of meeting you heart’s longing.”

Such a powerful statement! I have to admit that I definately dream of meeting my heart's longing. I am still figuring out what I ache for and what exactly is my heart's longing. How are you doing?

The Dawn, Beginning of an artistic journey…….

I am totally, completely, madly in love with colors. I believe they have been under rated and under stated in our lives. By comparison, other cultures outside of The United States are very bold with color. You’ve surely seen Mama Mia and the fabulous examples of the Greek d├ęcor. Greek, Italian, Mexican, French and on and on use their colors very loudly and bravely.

As Americans, we tend to play with color rather than living it. We are picky about what color our cars are, our clothes, our lipstick, even our iphone cases. All of which are temporary to us. How many times has someone given you the advice to pick a neutral color because it appeals to a broader range of people. Our walls are eggshell or low key earth tone schemes so that it will be easier to sell to someone else. We make color choices for the next person instead of for ourselves.

A few years ago I moved into a place where I finally had the chance to paint and decorate the way I have always wanted to. It was originally a very small place and quite depressing. We referred to it as “tiny town”. After I had put my vision on the canvas, so to speak, the transformation was amazing. It was absolutely fabulous. I had never had that type of opportunity before and it was a life changing event. So began my love affair with color.

The transformation of that tiny little funky place was liberating. It made me realize the lack of color in our everyday lives. The colors symbolized ownership and a commitment to living life right now, not just settling in the meantime. It was motivating, it was exciting and it inspired me to intentionally look for colors in places that I take for granted.

I would love for you to join me and challenge yourself to coloring your life. It is almost time for the sunrise and the journey begins at The Dawn…..
